Some people say anatomy is everything. If you don't have good anatomy, you're not a great artist. But you can look at some famous artists and their work as NO proper anatomy at all. Anatomy, though good to learn and know, is not everything in art. But, you can't also say, "I have a style, I don't need anatomy." If your style is at least somewhat anatomically correct, and people are able to tell the general thing that you are drawing, then screw anatomy. Anatomy is like conforming. If everyone had the same style of drawing, all using anatomy correctly, what would art be? If you like your art the way it is, without serious anatomy, then let it be! It's your art, and if you like it, it doesn't matter what others think. Art is not all about anatomy, but self expression. You can self express with anatomy or style.
You have an amazing point,
I know some amazingly artists who are really talented by their "anatomy" is incorrect.
Like, with most canines, the shoulders like up with the knees.
It looks great on actual canines but with those artists, and even myself, if the shoulder and knee were atomically correct, it'd look really weird.
I think you have to have some concept of anatomy, I learned some concept of it and my art improved drastically,
You have to know the general placement joints and bends and stuff but you don't have to make it look EXACTLY like a wolf or dog.
I think the correct term is stylized.
It's good too hear this. You don't know how many times I've heard "Your art is bad because anatomy" this week haha.
Stylized images are based off correct anatomy, though, so knowing it is pretty important :U
XD
I was just too lazy to care. :3
Yes, I know.
Anatomy should be learned,
But does not always have to be used.
